Ros Steele

I've been working as a Vascular Scientist since 2011, and I genuinely feel fortunate to be in a profession I care so deeply about. Over time, my role has grown beyond technical expertise — it has become a meaningful way to contribute to people’s health and overall well-being. I’m committed to maintaining high professional standards, strong ethics, and clinical accuracy in everything I do. Vascular science demands precision and critical thinking, but it also requires empathy. I never forget that behind every scan is a person looking for answers, reassurance, and clarity. What motivates me most is knowing that my work helps guide important clinical decisions and can truly make a difference in someone’s quality of life. Whether it’s through early detection, diagnostic clarity, or simply creating a calm and supportive experience, I aim to bring both expertise and compassion to every patient interaction. I take pride in being thorough, dependable, and committed to continuous professional growth. For me, this isn’t just a career — it’s purposeful, meaningful work.

I have been a clinical vascular scientist for 25 years working both within the NHS and private sector. Prior to this I was involved in practical conservation projects across Sussex. In the span of my career, I have seen the profession change from being used to screen for disease to now being the primary diagnostic modality for many conditions. I have extensive experience in less invasive treatment for venous issues alongside our surgeons. My priorities are treating patients with respect and involving them in their treatment at a level at which they can engage and understand, including proactive changes they themselves can make. Outside of work I care for my family, enjoy being active outside and maintain an interest in our local and wider environment.

I am an Accredited Vascular Scientist, specialised in non-invasive vascular ultrasound and diagnostic assessment, having successfully completed the CSVS accreditation in Vascular Science. I have experience in the evaluation of arterial and venous disease, including carotid, peripheral arterial, venous, aneurysm, and dialysis access scans.
